Bob Bailey workshop learning - Part 8
1. Training period (how long you train for - should be short 4 to 5 minutes of active working. There may be breaks - so the dog may be out for 15 minutes but not working all that time.)
2. Training session (10 trials (repetitions). 30 seconds to a minute.) You have many sessions in a period.
3. Train ONE behaviour/ ONE criterion per session.
4. Change criterion when successful at 80% for 2 sessions.
5. If behavior doesn't change for 3 sessions - review your training procedure.
6. If behavior declines over 2 sessions - review training procedure.
7. Keep data. Measure responses!
8. When you finish training ask: Am I better off now than when I started?
9. If you can't PRECISELY define the response you are training - STOP - and define it!!
10. "Doing more of a wrong thing doesn't make it right!"
11. "You either reap the benefits of your actions or pay the penalty."
