If most of the emotions a dog is experiencing are in the negative zone, that's that dog's mood state / climate.
Emotions come and go within this climate.
In a negative mood state, the dog won't be so likely to notice positive experiences/ emotions. The positive emotions they do notice will be less intense and more fleeting than they would be if the dog was in a more positive mood.
The dog in a positive mood state, experiencing lots of positive emotions, is less likely to notice negatives. The negatives they do notice will be less intense and more fleeting than they would be if the dog was in a more negative mood.
If we can change the mood state, we can change the way a dog experiences the world.
Changing moods and emotions can change behaviour. Problem behaviours can just disappear.
