Learning about your puppy...let me clarify.

Updated: Jul 26

What am I looking for?

Why am I looking for it?

1. What? Social behaviour.

Number 1 for me.

Why? Because I have lived with a reactive dog and never want to do that again.

2. What? General confidence.

Why? A dog who is willing to try stuff, and recovers quickly when things go wrong is an easier dog to live with than one who does neither of these things.

3. What? Potential problems.

Why? Because if I notice them early, I can do something about them before they become a problem.

Note that other people and their dogs are ALWAYS a potential problem. You have no control over how they and their dog might interact with your puppy, so consider which people and which dogs get to interact. Advocate for your puppy. They're a baby. They're YOUR baby. You don't owe anyone interaction time with your puppy. You do owe your puppy, safety and positive experiences.
