If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Updated: Aug 8

Many dog training/ behaviour adjustment sales pitches make change sound EASY.

You know it probably won't be, but the promise excites you and you're desperate and if you make a financial commitment, you're sure you'll follow through...

Really? Be honest now :).

What we need to do is often simple ( e.g. we all know what healthy eating involves). Actually doing it over the long term, is rarely easy.

If it was easy, you'd have done it already.

There can be no timeline on behaviour change, because it's a process, not a product and everyone and every situation is different.

The change process can be simplified and made more achievable, but YOU still have to commit and consistently do the work.

The good news is that with the right support, the change process can be simplified and made more achievable.

I do an exercise programme which involves 3 x 20 minute sessions weekly. Guess what? I can do that. I'm not going to work out in a gym for two hours daily, but I can do 3 short sessions a week. Often the exercises are too hard for me, but there are always easier options to do instead.

Improving your own and your dog's quality of life can be like this too. Take action regularly and consistently and change will happen.

"Have patience, grasshopper."
