I'm currently unwell and have been given two different meds to take. I'm quite sensitive to meds and I think the pain relief pill I took last night has really knocked me around. I slept well, but when awake have felt very spaced out and had a bad headache.
It got me thinking that if I were a dog, nobody would know that. They'd assume my lethargy today was due to the illness and probably keep giving me those same pain relief meds.
What's the answer?
I truly don't know.
All I can suggest is close observation of what's normal behaviour for your dog, so you can recognise how they show distress (including the small signals). Experiment with what you try and act on your gut feelings when concerned.
Just do the best you can.
